As an experienced Bristol Osteopath with more than 25 years' of professional experience, I wanted to offer a better way to prevent poor posture and back pain.
There has been a significant increase in the last two years in patients visiting my clinic suffering with back pain and other injuries relating to poor posture.
According to the NHS, back pain is the largest single cause of disability in the UK, with lower back pain alone accounting for 11% of the total disability of the UK population.

The rise in home working after the first Covid lockdown, as well as a change in some Bristol companies remote working policies because of the pandemic has led to a sharp rise in the numbers of people working from home.
This has also seen a steep increase in posture-related issues in the region.
I have written a number of articles in the last two years to address poor posture and back pain as useful guides for patients. These include:
How to avoid back pain in Bristol
Tips for desk workers with joint pain
What to do about poor posture
Some of the easiest ways to reduce back pain and prevent issues relating to poor posture include:
Take micro breaks. Stand up from your desk every 20 minutes, stretch and move.
Take phone calls standing up if sitting all day
Be mindful of your sitting position. Sit well and sit less
Hydrate at regular intervals along with physical exercises
Strengthen your core stability and stay flexible
Another key consideration with poor posture and back pain is the type of chair you have, whether working from home or in an office.
I recently launched a better way to sit, with the ergonomic Z Chair.
