As an experienced Bristol osteopath, I often get patients asking for advice on reducing Winter aches and pains at this time of year.
For some patients the cold and damp weather conditions can aggravate latent and reoccurring issues, so I’m always happy to give advice, hints and tips.
From my professional perspective as an experienced Bristol osteopath, there are a few simple and easy steps that can be taken during colder months, to reduce common aches and pains associated with Winter.
A simple piece of advice I give to my patients is to stay warm and active. It’s important that individuals ensure that they wrap up well, with a scarf and hat to protect the head and neck. These areas particularly can suffer in lower temperatures.
Get out for walks: jogging and being active outside in the fresh air is so important.
Patients should stretch daily. I advise gentle but effective exercise such as Yoga or Pilates. This can help with body warmth, joint mobility and core stability in the cold spells.
At my osteopathy clinic which serves Henleaze, Westbury Park, Clifton, Redland and Cotham, I can help patients with general joint and muscular ailments.
I aim to treat every patient as an individual, and aim to account for any unique health issues a patient might have, including general and systemic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes or arthritic conditions to name a few.
A patient visiting me for osteopathic treatments in Winter might be experiencing mechanical or mobility issues. They may have weakness or pain in the any area of their body. The neck and back are common areas but shoulders, knees, hands or just generalised aches are also common.
My initial consultation will assist in finding those vulnerable areas and assessing the body as a whole.
Other health tips to reduce Winter aches and pains include getting plenty of rest, drinking lots of water, and consider taking additional health supplements. Vitamins C, D and Zinc are important to support the immune system.
My osteopathic services in Bristol can help loosen tired, stiff, sore and aching joints in the Winter months, as well as improve stability throughout the body.
