With the ongoing cost of living crisis hitting us all, I'm hearing some patients asking whether booking a Bristol Osteopath is a luxury or a necessity.
A Bristol Osteopath will help patients in pain and with injuries to recovery more quickly.
Osteopaths take a whole-body approach to managing pain and injuries.
This makes us well-placed to treat a huge variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.
Given the financial pressures we are all under, it can be tempting to think of osteopathic treatments in Bristol as a luxury item rather than a necessity.
If a patient has an acute injury or is in significant pain, an Osteopath will be able to help speed up their recovery. Getting out of pain and back to full productivity is generally a priority for the patients that I see at my Henleaze osteopathic clinic.
Some patients ask about niggles and minor conditions, and question whether these are a priority when it comes to osteopathic treatments.
I see many patients for maintenance treatments which are preventative sessions.
I say that ‘prevention is always better than cure’, and consistent maintenance treatments can work out more affordable than several acute emergency treatments for some patients.
The risk of not prioritizing prevention, is that you can sometimes end up with a more acute problem than if you had listened to your body in the first place.
A preventative approach often works out less costly and less painful than sorting out an emergency, acute injury or issue.
That being said, I will never ask a patient to have treatment unless I believe they absolutely need it.
My best advice is for patients to prioritize and maintain their health, and to focus on preventing injuries.
There are many healthy choices for all of us including; diet, exercise, good sitting posture, general mindfulness, drink plenty of water, and taking lots of micro breaks when sitting at work.
Given the cost in terms of time and money of dealing with emergency injuries and painful ongoing issues, I would suggest that seeing a Bristol Osteopath should always be seen as a necessity.
