I’ve had a number of new patients coming to see me recently who have been requiring osteopathy treatments for tradespersons in Bristol, and I thought it would be worth writing a news post dedicated to this group.
My aim as an experienced Bristol osteopath is to help resolve muscular and skeletal strains, strengthen and stabilize the body, and to help prevent further injuries. All of this is vitally important to various tradespersons across the city.
Tradespersons often put their bodies under significant mechanical strain in their day-to-day activities, and at my Henleaze-based osteopathy clinic I treat many tradespeople from a variety of skill-sets, including builders, plumbers, electricians, heating engineers, scaffolders, and general construction workers.
If you’re a tradesperson and you’ve never tried osteopathic treatments before, here’s a helpful News post I wrote, giving basic tips on what to look for when booking a Bristol osteopath. Find out more here.
Some key issues affecting tradespersons who need to seek osteopathy treatments in Bristol often include the following:
Overhead work
This is common among engineers: looking upwards for extended periods can put excessive strain on the neck, which may then cause chronic neck strain and pain.
Osteopathic treatment can help to alleviate this issue in both the short, medium and long term.
Heavy lifting
This is a problem area for many tradesmen and women. Often from working in awkward spaces, or lifting heavy equipment up and down flights of stairs.
The lower back is especially vulnerable, and joint strains are commonplace. Osteopathic care can assist in repair, and get patients back to work sooner.
Working in tight spaces
Patients visiting my Bristol osteopathy clinic suffering from aches and pains sustained from working in tight spaces are often electricians, plumbers and heating engineers who can find themselves in tight and movement- limiting positions for long periods, resulting in acute pain or chronic stiff aches.
Osteopathic treatments at my Henleaze clinic can ease associated pain and stiffness, as well as helping the body to repair more quickly.
Prevention is better than cure
For all tradespersons receiving osteopathic treatment at my Bristol clinic, a key message is that prevention is better than cure.
I advocate core exercises to strengthen and prevent against musculo-skeletal strain, which can be more prevalent during colder Winter months.
Strengthening the back and core will protect the joints and discs of the lower back, whilst mobility work can help those tradespersons having to maintain difficult and awkward working positions.
Many of my trades patients benefit from my ongoing Maintenance Osteopathic Treatments, or MOT – to find out more, please visit here.
I also recently wrote a News post which will be useful for tradespersons, on how to avoid the most common Winter health problems – read it here.
