What are the best forms of exercise in Bristol during lockdown?

So, with the onset of more restrictions due to Covid-19, I thought this would be a good time to write a News post on the best forms of exercise in Bristol during lockdown, to provide support for different patients of different ages.

As an experienced osteopath in Henleaze, one of my favourite mantras is ‘Prevention is better than cure’ and I stand by this when it comes to regular exercise to relieve stress, anxiety, and preventing musculoskeletal pain.

Healthy fresh air daily can have an amazing impact on our physical and mental wellbeing, and I’m a firm advocate of getting outdoors every day – within the current Covid-19 restrictions around daily exercise, of course.

Gentle exercising outdoors such as Nordic Walking, and Power Walking, as well as more involved outdoor exercise such as Bootcamps and Circuit Training can provide a huge boost physically and mentally during lockdown.

It’s worth noting that patients can work directly with a personal trainer outdoors during lockdown, and Clifton Downs is seeing an increase in the number of people undertaking this kind of exercise regime, whilst observing social distancing requirements.

There are gentler indoor forms of exercise for older patients that can also provide massive benefits to overall health during the current lockdown.

There are a multitude of online classes available in yoga, pilates and other gentle exercises involving stretching muscles and joints in a slower manner.

I also wrote a News post recently discussing the benefits of gentler forms of exercise which many of my older patients have commented on – please visit here to see for yourself and find out more.

Finally, my Bristol osteopathy clinic is fully open so if you’re looking for Covid-safe osteopathic treatments, please read this news post to find out about the measures in place at my Henleaze osteopathy clinic for all patients.
